A pilot project when it first began in 1979, the John Howard Society of Niagara’s Intermittent Program has been operating in the Niagara justice community for over 30 years.

The program provides clients with an opportunity to serve their sentences on the weekend, in their community, by working at select non-profit organizations throughout Niagara. Participating local agencies greatly benefit from the much-needed and cost-free labor. Offenders also receive several positive recompenses, including the ability to keep any weekday employment, no separation from children and family, and an overall sense of hope and possibility for the future.
